Led It Up

Born as an initiative out of the MediaLab Amsterdam, team Led It Up was in charge of the Culture Vortex project. Together with Dropstuff and The Netherlands Institute of Sound & Vision, we created an interactive installation with use of old images from Open Images. The installation consists of a big LED screen (although beamer is also possible) and a web application. With the use of your smartphone you can play our games on a huge screen. For the project we focused on the old school favourite: hangman. The fun lies in the simplicity of the gameplay, the interaction with the screen and competing with your friends.

We succesfully launched the project at Festival Mundial 2011 in Tilburg and generated interest in the installation from different organisations. Led It Up decided to go on after the MediaLab project ended and is now a solid crew with an adaptable product. With every event we strive to achieve just one thing: expand your playground.

Wereldomroep

Wereldomroep is a project that focuses on creating a transmedia storytelling platform. This concept is intended for expat children that move abroad together with their parents. Through a magazine and an interactive website, we help them with any potential problems they may encounter.

Working along with RNW, this project develops an online drama/web series aimed to an audience of expatriate children around the world. The main theme is be: what happens to you when you become an expat? The idea is to help RNW research what different media platforms can be used  to create interaction between expat children and the station, as well as researching the narrative possibilities of transmedia.

Projection Infinity

This is the fourth urban screens project developed by MediaLAB Amsterdam. With Gijs Gootjes as a project manager and Jan Scholte as creative producer, a small group of students designed an interactive projection for the new Amstel campus of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. The projection took place in February 2011 as part of the Students in Motion project, mixing self generated mapped animation content and outsourced small clips of video, the project also worked with audio, touchscreens and twitter.
It was developed in collaboration with technical partner Beam Systems and with creative studio Escapation.
