Wrapping things up

gradr-logoIt’s time for the final blogpost of the smart eyewear team. We started this project with the following research question: How can smart eyewear technology be integrated into the quality assessment system of the Port of Amsterdam in the area of maintenance of public spaces? We’ve developed a system called Gradr to effectively optimize the maintenance processes within the port.

Gradr is the combination of a Google Glass application and a management platform designed for tablet interfaces. Using this system, unecessary actions are eliminited. The video below describes the current situation in the port in the first half. The second half shows our solution.

The final stages of the project were quite hectic: it consisted of presentations, finalizing all documentation, and designing an expo experience. For the expo we designed a game to show the workings of our system, while avoiding all messy details of the solution.

We finished the MediaLAB project with a BBQ with all students. It has been fun working at the mediaLAB and trying out new technologies. We’re very pleased with the results of our project. Needless to say, it has been a great experience working for the MediaLAB. We would like to thank everybody who helped us over the course of the project!

Right now it’s time for a well deserved holiday 😉
