How fast do we move when we’re sitting still?
As society ages, so does the workforce. In not even a decade time, three generations of people will be at work in offices all over the world. Due to this ageing society, the workforce ages and new regulations are being implemented consequently, the workspace has to be changed accordingly. In twenty weeks time we will look into this subject and develop and design a product to provide in the needs of the ageing (and hopefully also younger) workforce. As the team consists of different cultures (Japanese/Chinese/Dutch) it is also interesting to see how the difference in culture effects the outcome of the project but also provides different views on the problem. Besides working closely with Bell Labs, we are also happy to be in close contact with innovation studio Fukuoka in Japan where the same project will take place, this allows us to “Design Across Cultures”. Finally the Helen Hamlyn Research Centre in Londen will be the last partner with which we will stay in contact when doing research and discussing findings and possible designs and solutions, because when society changes, we have to be flexible and design and find solutions for the issues that appear.
