The Hive Co- creation

A lot of people visit museums, some do so to learn something new while others just want a nice day out. Whatever their motivations are, they’re all expecting a certain experience. However, this experience is not always completely fullfil . On the other hand, museum professionals are challenged to make exhibitions that fit the needs of their visitors and try to give them the best experience possible. They often do this without actually communicating with them, which makes their job even more challenging sometimes. With the collaboration of CREATE-IT and No More Mondays we created The Hive, a toolkit that facilitates co-creation workshops for the creation of new exhibitions between museum professionals and visitors.

This toolkit consists of a set of tools, which museum professionals need to set up their first co-creation, such as instructions, activity cards, a game board and a website. The Hive will help museum professionals to get engaged with their community and improve museum experiences.

Play Visual

Mission

Play Visual aims at providing emerging musicians with tools and skills to promote themselves. By using Play Visual, artists can get inspired and build their personal brand while creating engaging visual stories.

Concept

Play Visual is a creative playground where visual storytelling is triggered and facilitated. Social media platforms have changed the way people connect, find information and entertain themselves. Users share pictures, videos and thoughts on the internet, and get constant feedback from their social network. Moreover, the proliferation of portable digital devices has enabled users to easily create and share visual stories. By using a psychological approach inspired by the notion Narrative Identity, Play Visual positions itself as a tool for creating brand identity and boosting DIY visual storytelling.

Ghost of Tito

The Yugoslavian wars of the 1990’s have left lasting scars on the region. More than 20 years after the end of the conflict, the atmosphere in Yugoslavia’s successor states remains one of mutually excluding truths and the fragmentation of society. Despite various transitional justice activities and the successes of the ICTY, dealing with the past continues to be a sensitive subject in this region. Its inhabitants tend to self-censor or to develop nationalistic mindsets that impede their ability to engage in critical (self-) reflection and discussion. Humor, which has historically played an important role in Yugoslavia, is the one binding factor. Everyone knows and loves the jokes about Mujo & Haso, the lazy Montenegrins and the cheap Slovenes. This is why we, MediaLab’s Post-Conflict Mind Check team, created The Ghost of Tito game. We believe this game can be a valuable reflective tool. By combining humor with historical and cultural references, the game enables its users to confront complex social issues that they find hard to address in a direct way.
